LOS ANGELES, CA – Wagenseller Law Firm, a downtown Los Angeles real estate litigation law firm, has successfully raised the money to build a dormitory for the Bringing Hope To The Family orphanage in Kaihura, Uganda. One hundred percent of the money raised will go toward the construction of a building to house children at the orphanage.
“We are excited to help Bringing Hope To The Family as they care for hundreds of children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic and poverty in Uganda,” said Laine Wagenseller, a Los Angeles-based business trial lawyer and the founder of Wagenseller Law Firm. “It is a testament to our clients and friends that they contributed so generously to make this dormitory possible.”
Bringing Hope To The Family exists to provide care, support and hope to orphans and families afflicted by poverty and disease in southwest Uganda. Bringing Hope was started by a woman named Faith Kunihira who had grown up in the village but had broken the cycle of poverty and moved to the City to become an accountant. Upon returning to the village to visit her family, Faith was struck by the proliferation of abandoned and neglected children in her village. In 2000 Faith quit her job and returned to the village to care for the children.
Since 2000 Bringing Hope To The Family has provided shelter, food, schooling, medical care and so much more to over 1,500 orphans and other vulnerable children. The dormitory will be built at Bringing Hope To The Family’s farm in Kyongera, where the older boys in the orphanage learn sustainable farming techniques. Laine Wagenseller spent two weeks at the orphanage in 2010 and will be returning in June 2011 to continue teaching the children about leadership and team building.
“It is rewarding as a real estate litigation attorney in Los Angeles to see how the real estate professionals and clients that we work with came together to support such a worthy cause,” added Laine Wagenseller.
The donations were raised through www.knowthinkact.org, an online community that connects donors with the needs of orphanages in Uganda and Kenya. The website is a creation of Global Support Mission, a United States-based non-profit that “exists to see a movement of compassion wipe out hunger, disease and extreme poverty”.
